SOFT LANDING FOR WORLD CLASS AIRPORT FACILITIES
Visitors to OR Tambo International Airport are guaranteed a soft landing following the installation of luxury cutpile carpet tiles from Nexus.
Following the example of world leading Changhi airport in Singapore, the tufted carpet tiles were installed throughout the new lounges, domestic arrivals and departures as well as along the boarding passages.
The effect is one of luxurious sophistication which successfully addresses the issues of noise control and non-slip safety. Not satisfied with choosing from Nexus’ 22000 design options, the Airports Company opted for a tailormade design using CustomX, manufactured from the latest hi-tech SDX yarn.
The new SDX yarn is completely stainproof, UV and fade resistant and is designed to withstand heavy traffic and soiling to be expected with the influx of foreign tourists ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Carpet tiles extend the life of the carpet by permitting areas of undue heavy wear to be selectively replaced without influencing the rest of the installation.
Unlike the ultra hardy, well established BERBERPOINT needlepunch ranges already so extensively used in retail and commercial applications, the new MATRIX and TIME SQUARE ranges of carpet tiles are plush, deep pile, luxury carpets in tile format that allow complete design flexibility. Both these ranges feature subtle designs that effectively mask soiling and are suitable for bold, modern interiors. Both boast a pile depth of 7mm.
The ultra luxurious broadloom range, BALTIMORE in subtle natural shades for an organic textured look is available as carpet tiles on special request. Available as standard 50cmx50cm tiles, the carpet tiles may also be supplied if required in 1mx1m size.
