Check out the current ranges and changes from Nexus to help you de-clutter and get organised for the year ahead. CARPET LAUNCHES Two striking new broadloom carpet ranges - Art Deco and Avant Garde - were added to the Nexus stable early in 2011. In line with international carpet trends of colour, lustre and texture, both ranges offer high-fashion flooring combined with hi-tech performance and durability.
MODULAR Synergy – the graphic pin-stripe carpet tile was Nexus’ last modular offering to answer the move toward more graphic, repetitive and geometric patterns in the last quarter of 2010. Featuring a distinctive pinstripe pattern in traditional colours tempered with tones of greys, stone, khaki and earthy shades of dusty blues and blacks, Synergy is made from affordable polypropylene Stainproof Miracle Fibre and replaces the discontinued range Time Zone.
COLOUR UPDATES Aside from seven new colour additions to the newly recoloured BerberPoint 920 range mentioned above, several other ranges received colour makeovers in the last two years. Contemporary shades of greys, stoney creams, tawny beiges, earthy browns, smokey blues and blacks add a sophisticated air to the traditional staples of navy, black, beige and deep reds. The luxury cut-pile Westminster range – favoured for executive suites and meeting rooms, now features 19 versatile hues for any design imperative – from light, muted naturals to dark, solid and bold. African-inspired Serengeti with its paw-print pattern also received a much-needed overhaul to six of its colourways to reflect the modern preference for all things natural. Baltimore’s densely constructed structure now combats ‘surface shading’ problems in 14 international shades, while Cosmopolitan’s base tones and stripes have been mixed ‘n matched in more neutral, earthy tones than the original bright colourways. Needlepunch Hercules also received an update with 11 hardworking staples in shades of greys, blues, beige and black for a fashionable, yet durable foundation for heavy traffic areas while 14 similar colours will transform commercial favourite BerberPoint 650, notably replacing the brighter greens and reds in the old colour palettes.
VINYL VANTAGE 2011 Vinyl floors are increasingly finding favour for their versatility and affordability, with huge improvements in the range of finishes and durability. Always on trend and anticipating market developments, Belgotex Floorcoverings created Belgotex Vinyl as a separate brand to their carpeting divisions, ahead of the growing demand for vinyl floorcoverings.
Next followed the launch of South Africa’s first tongue-and-groove click range – Seneca - in the last quarter of 2011, offering a simple installation system that locks individual planks together for a seamless, water-resistant finish. Since vinyl bounced back into fashion for its affordable faux wood- or stone-look finishes, superior underfoot cushioning, water-resistance and improved durability and noise absorption characteristics this resilient flooring solution is finding its way into the trendiest, most diverse interiors.
